Most of the rides at Universal Studios Hollywood are appropriate for the whole family, from the unique Studio Tour to the Flight of the Hippogriff, to the Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash. That being said, the park is missing some thrilling rides for the adrenaline junkies out there. The Revenge of the Mummy is arguably the most thrilling ride at the park and is not one you should miss if you're looking for a little excitement!

One of the most unique attractions in any theme park in the world, this 40-50 minute tour was made for movie lovers! While you do get to see some historical buildings and learn about what goes own in the filming lots at Universal, this tour isn't without its thrilling moments that really immerse you into the worlds we see on the big screen.

Jurassic World
This classic water ride is one of the best themed rides in the park. From the queue line to the actual ride itself, you're immersed in a beautiful but dangerous world. Oh, and you'll absolutely get wet, no matter where you sit, so it's perfect for hot days!

WaterWorld
Although the show itself is a little old, it still has a charm to it, with actors doing a fantastic job of interacting with the crowd. The special effects are still pretty solid, the action scenes are great, and it's perfect for the whole family.

A favorite at the park, this exciting ride is actually a Minion training program that allows guests to get a feel for what it's like working for the infamous supervillian Gru. The ride is family friendly and does often get pretty busy, especially during the weekends. It's geared toward kids, but can still be a fun experience for adults.

Kung Fu Panda Adventure

The DreamWorks Theatre changes its show every now and again, which is great for frequent park goers. The Kung Fu Panda Adventure is currently showing and it features Po and his other friends embarking on an important quest from the emperor. The audience get to tag along and help out on this important mission via their specialized moving seats. The line for this ride can get pretty long, but the theatre seats plenty, so it can go from long to short in a matter of minutes.

Studio Tour

The World-Famous Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood is a MUST-DO at the park. It's a 60 minute long tour on a tram with a friendly guide that explains all the sights you'll be seeing. From office buildings to shooting locations to special mini rides, you'll be able to experience the magic of Hollywood up close. There tends to be no wait for this ride in the early morning, so it's an easy one to knock out first. However, if you do decide to prioritize other rides, just know the tour closes a little before the park does, so just be sure to hop on before the end of the night.

Super Silly Fun land

This colorful play area is the perfect place for kids to blow off some steam and enjoy rides and games made specially for them. There is one ride (The Silly Swirly Fun Ride), a jungle gym play area, and a mini water park play area. There are a few carnival games with fun prizes to win as well. The Minion Cafe is also located in this area, which is perfect for lunch or a snack break while the kids play.

The Secret Life of Pets:
Off the Leash

Intensity Level: Relaxing
A beautifully-made dark ride, The Secret Life of Pets takes you through the streets of New York City as a part of the animal gang. There are so many great details in both the ride and the queue. The queue barely even feels like a line, since it's divided up into different rooms. Although it's geared toward kids, it's definitely enjoyable for all ages. It's also available via virtual line on the Universal Studios Hollywood app, so be sure to grab a spot early in the morning when you arrive!

WaterWorld

WaterWorld is an action-packed show that's set in a dystopian world where the earth is covered in water and humans mostly live on cities that float. The special effects are thrilling, the actors are fun, and the splash zones are a great way to cool down on those hot Southern Californai days. The show isn't that long (20-25ish minutes), but it's also a great way to get off your feet while experiencing the best of what Universal Studios Hollywood has to offer.

Revenge of the Mummy

This ride is one of the most thrilling experiences in Universal Studios Hollywood! It's a dark ride that propels guests up to 45mph through fire and darkness as they try to escape the terrifying Mummy's revenge. It's quite the action ride and is definitely a much-needed adrenaline boost compared with most of the other rides in the park.

Transformers The Ride 3D

Intensity Level: Thrilling
One of the classics at Universal Parks on both coasts, Transformers The Ride 3D takes guests on a simulated flight ride through battles with Optimus Prime against the Decepticons. Fans of the Transformers series will get to see a bunch of favorite characters throughout the fight, like Bumblebee, Megatron, and other Autobots and Decepticons. It's a thrilling ride, but not too intense, so it's fitting for most of the family.

Flight of the Hippogriff

Intensity Level: Mild
Take a (very) quick ride on a hippogriff at this outdoor coaster near Hagrid's Hut. It's a great family coaster, with no big loops or drops, but it's also a lot shorter than we'd like. Still, if the line is short and you fancy an enjoyable ride, it's a great option. The details in the queue are also great to look out for while you're waiting.

Harry Potter and the
Forbidden Journey

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is actually two awesome attractions in one: the queue and the actual ride itself. The queue circles round Hogwarts from the outdoor area to the inner halls and even Dumbledore's study. There's plenty to see and enjoy while you're waiting -it's almost a waste to just rush past everything. The ride itself is pretty solid as well. The vehicle and motions are a little unique but do a great job at immersing you in the action.

Ollivander's

A trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood isn't complete without a stop at Ollivander's, makers of fine wands. The shop often has a line near the main entrance, since guests can experience a short but magical session with one of the shop's wand specialists. One member of each viewing group will be chosen to try out a few wands, which can cause a bit of chaos. Overall, the experience is charming and worth doing at least once, especially for huge fans of the franchise.

Zonko's Joke Shop

Just next to Honeydukes is Zonko's Joke Shop which is filled with cute little toys and souvenirs that are perfect for kids or the young at heart. The shop itself is a treat to be in when it's not busy, as there's plenty to see all around.

Wand Magic Experiences

Guests who have an interactive wand can practice spells at a few key locations around Hogsmead. These spell locations let guests create a little magic of their own with unique effects that trigger when the spell is cast successfully. There are currently 15 different spells to practice at 13 locations throughout Hogsmeade.

The Simpsons Ride

The Simpsons Ride is a virtual reality roller coaster ride that takes you through Krustyland and most of Springfield. You'll join Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie as they try to survive Krusty's low-budget theme park ride. The ride is exciting and fun for all ages. The combination of the screen and ride movements may not be so great for those with motion sickness problems, though -just a fair warning. Otherwise, this ride is a classic go-to for Universal Studios Hollywood park goers.

Bowser Jr. Shadow Showdown

Bowser Jr. Shadow Showdown is technically supposed to be the final game you play if you care about the order of the power up band games. However, anyone can join at any time, regardless of whether you're doing the power up band games or even have a power up band. The game lets you use your shadow to repel bombs and gain power ups, all while collecting points against your neighbors. It's quick but fun and adds a nice little workout to your day.

Goomba Crazy Crank

The Goomba Crazy Crank is a power up band where you turn the wheel quickly in order to make the Goomba fall. This is a charming game that isn't very difficult. We have thus far not seen anyone fail at it, regardless of age or arm strength.

Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge

For fans of Mario Kart, this ride lets you live out your dream as a racer on a lively track as you try to defeat Bowser! Your vehicle determines which player you are (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Toad, or Daisy) and which track you get to ride. It's nice to be able to get a slightly different experience with each ride, especially since your game play will change. During the ride, you'll be able to help turn your car and send power ups in all directions to gain points. You can check your current point total by looking down. This fun ride is well worth the wait, especially with such an interesting queue to explore!

Piranha Plant Nap Mishap

This power up band game is played outside, so you'll usually have a crowd watching as you play. The goal is to keep the piranha plant sleeping so that you can grab a key. Unfortunately, someone seems to have set a bunch of alarm clocks to go off at the same time, so you'll need to run around and shut them off to prevent the piranaha plant from waking. This fast-paced game is great to play with family and friends and so interesting to watch while you're waiting.

Princess Peach Meetup

Every so often, Princess Peach visits her gazebo (in front of her castle) where she happily greets fans and takes pictures with them. She's a non-speaking character, but she does make adorable gestures and poses for photos.

Thwomp Panel Panic

Thwomp Panel Panic is another power up band game that's best enjoyed as a group. The screen will show a board filled with yellow and blue squares. Your team must decide on one color to turn the board and then touch the individual squares to change them to that color. Some squares affect the squares around them, turning them the other color, so it can get a bit wild. The waiting area for this game is indoors, so it's a nice break from the outdoor sun.

Jurassic World - The Ride

Take a tour of the Jurassic World facility in this popular boat ride! You'll get to see some fantastic dinosaurs as your boat takes you through the waterway through the different park facilities. The ride is a calm tour... for the most part. The ending can be quite thrilling and wet, though. You'll likely not get soaked but you will get wet for sure, no matter where you sit on the boat!

Dino Play

This charming play area for kids is themed around an excavation site with giant dinosaur fossils scattered around for kids to explore and discover. There's a jungle gym area, a rope plank bridge, a lookout, and other fun features for young ones to enjoy. There are even dinosaur eggs and a full size T. Rex skull!

Raptor Encounter

Some of Jurassic's World's most popular citizens get to mingle with the crowd a little during dedicated timeslots near the Jurassic World ride. These meet and greets are perfectly safe, although sometimes a little intimidating for younger kids. The raptors are generally playful, though, with a good sense of humor. Be sure to grab a selfie for the 'gram if you see these gorgeous creatures out and about.
