The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has some fantastic interactive experiences to spread the magic around to those who are willing to participate. Our guide to Wand Magic Spells at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood will have you casting spells like a pro in no time! This guide includes locations to where spells can be practiced, the types of spells available, and tips on how to do certain spells.
First and foremost: you'll need an interactive wand. These can be purchased at Ollivander's or at the gift shop near the entrance to Universal Studios Hollywood. Most wands cost $60, but a few can go for a bit more if they're special edition wands.

Once you purchase your interactive wand, you can immediately start test driving that baby around Hogsmeade. Inside your wand box should be a folded sheet of paper that has a map of Hogsmeade and a quick guide to the locations and types of spells you can do. This will be super helpful for you to find the proper locations to cast your spells. You can do these in any order you'd like. For convenience, we'll go through them in numerical order, as they're listed on your map.

How to Cast Spells
Find the medallion located on the floor near the wand magic location you want to practice at. Aim your wand in the direction the medallion is pointing toward. Following the directions on the medallion, move your wand in the shape shown while you recite the spell (although you're more than welcome to practice your wand magic in silence as well). A successful spell will merit a bit of magic for you! Sometimes you'll need to try the wand motion a few times. Sometimes you'll need to move a little closer in the direction the medallion is pointing. You'll just need to play around with it and see what works. Thankfully, there are professional witches and wizards around the park who are more than happy to help you perfect your techniques!

If you find that the spells just aren't working no matter what you try, you can always swing by Ollivander's to have your wand inspected. Sometimes, the tips of the wands get scratched or otherwised damaged, which make it difficult to cast the spells. The staff at Ollivander's have always been pretty great at replacing damaged wands with no questions asked.

1. Revelio

This wand magic spell can be practiced just outside the Honeyduke's shop in the window that shows the giant chocolate frog display.

4. Locomotor Plates & Arresto Momentum

These two spells can be practiced in bright pink window display next to the Boys' restroom at Madam Puddifoot's. The window shows stacks of teacups and desserts that look utterly delectable.

When done correctly, the Locomotor Plates spell should start the plates spinning round and round and the Arresto Moment spell should stop the movement.
The most basic Locomotion Charm, (Locomotor), enables a witch or wizard to levitate a target a few inches off of the ground and then move said object in any given direction.
Arresto Momentum is the incantation of a charm that can be used by a witch or wizard to slow the movement of an object.

This spell can be practiced in the shop windows of Spintwitches, which displays equipment for the rousing game of quidditch.

12. Alohomora

One of the newest wand magic locations added to the Wizarding World at Universal Studios Hollywood is this Alohomora spell at the large, wooden door. It's located across from the Three Broomsticks in an open square area. This one can be a bit difficult to master, but there's usually a professional witch or wizard nearby to help.

When cast correctly, the door should begin to unlock and you should hear some concerning sounds from behind it. Maybe it would've been better to leave it alone!
